Meet the Mancunian podcast: social impact stories from Manchester

Since its launch in January 2022, the Meet the Mancunian podcast has amplified the voices of changemakers dedicated to making a difference. Hosted by Deepa Thomas-Sutcliffe, the podcast has featured 108 inspiring guests across nine seasons, exploring themes such as homelessness, veterans, diversity and inclusion, mental health, sustainability, and more.

Season 10, launching on February 11, 2025, celebrates social impact community heroes in Manchester, aiming to inspire listeners through their life experiences, challenges, and dedication to their causes.
Deepa started the podcast after moving to Wythenshawe, wanting to learn more about Greater Manchester and its inspiring people. “I aim to shine a light on good causes, spread a bit of good news, and inspire my listeners to follow their dreams and passions,” she shares. “The podcast is relevant to anyone passionate about social impact and making a difference regardless of where they are in the world.” The podcast has received notable recognition, including being shortlisted in the Best Business category at the UK’s first Independent Podcast Awards.

WFM News Editor Ben Cooper highlights its impact, saying, “It is great to have Deepa as part of our News Team. It gives our listeners the opportunity to hear some of her truly inspiring guests and to later listen to the full podcast on Deepa’s website or their favourite podcasting platform.”
Listeners are encouraged to tune in, share the podcast, and engage with its growing community. Episodes and transcripts are available on Apple podcast, Spotify or at
